We all live in the shadows of our past. We tip toe around the confined spaces under the shade, and marvel at how fast the world is changing from under there. There is nothing more comforting like the old. It reminds you of the warm memories and familiar smells, of the nice places you have been to and the fantastic people you have met.
My best friend told me something a few days back. "You have to close this door on me now. Give me a chance to come through another."
There is nothing more exhausting than change. There is nothing so frightening. What if, the door I open isn't the right one? What if, the wait for the door to open is too long and the change on either side too great?
And yet, we can't live our lives leaning on the ifs. We need to accept and embrace change for the people in our lives. We need to give ourselves the chance to skip out of the dark. We have to, because otherwise we'd simply be pushed into it. And no one, no one likes being pushed.
