At 21!!

It’s amazing, how at 21 you want so much. You expect so much and you desire so much. It’s also funny that at 21 you start realizing that wanting, expecting and desiring are not the solutions and they’ll take you nowhere! That even if you keep wanting and expecting and desiring, things won’t always look rosy. They might. But possibilities of them not being so are equally huge.

21 is just a number, and yet so significant. It’s believing in the unknown, and believing that life has just started that keeps us fueled. After the adrenalin rush of crossing over to the other side, its life in general that keeps us excited. We believe the future is going to be great. We know the future is going to be great because we are going to build it ourselves. We will direct our lives the way we want to. Twist it, play with it, and fool with it – because we can.

It’s also at 21 that you start understanding that there are two kinds of situations in life. Ones that we can control and the others that we just can’t. The ones under our control include work, relationships (not people), habits, routines, environments and activities. But then there are those that we cannot possibly change. And these are the ones that a 21 year old can’t or rather doesn’t want to deal with. Freewill, people, their behaviors, situations, circumstances, emotions - they all come to haunt us, taunt us, and kick us when we least expect them to.

And yet, we hope and expect and want and desire. For at 21, the day has just begun, its still young and fresh.
